The Eye

Recovering from blind eyes is not always a good thing...
Mun is blind since she was 2 year old. One day, she does surgery to her eyes so she can see again. After a short moment of happiness, Mun finds out that the shapes she had a hard time seeing at first, are actually ghosts...

Original Title :  Gin Gwai
International Title : The Eye
Country :  Hong Kong and Thailand
Original language : Cantonese chinese
Year :  2002
Length of the movie :  99 minutes
Genre :  Horror
Producers :  Oxide and Danny Pang
Actors :  Angelica Lee (Mun), Lawrence Chou (the doctor), Chutcha Rujinanon (Ling), Yin Ping Ko (Mun's grandmother), and Yut Lai So (Ying-ying)

My opinion :  This movie is scary but touching and poetic, at the same time. The spooky scenes are slow and suspenseful, the scare builds up little by little, instead of lame jumpscares. The ghosts's look are strange, mysterious and eerie, unlike a bloody gore-ish face that we often see in american horror movies. There is also sad scenes, like [SPOILER] :  Ying-ying's death and the ending scene with car traffic, Mun sees a lot of dark shadows, they're here to take the people who gonna die soon, with them. It predicts then the tragic death of people stuck in traffic, by gas leaking, from a truck.
Very emotional scene. The ghosts aren't only scary, They also had a sad life and lot of suffering, thus resulting in suicide, and they're stuck in the loop of their suicide act, that they reproduce everydays at the same hour they died at. Unless the source of their problem is fixed or that their loved ones forgive their suicidal act. Mun's new eyes, are actually Ling's eyes, who died of suicide, after predicting death of lot of people, that she tried to save, but the people didn't believe her. Mun, after her cornea/eyes surgery, received the eyes of Ling, thus why she can see ghosts and predict death. (END OF SPOILER).  Very emotional, sad and scary movie at the same time. A pure masterpiece!

I recommand this movie.
