KOREAN SKINCARE ROUTINE

Picture of a Korean girl with flawless skin :  here

But how do the Korean women have such flawless skin? No spots, no redness, no pores, etc...  It's actually normal :  They use 8 to 10 skincare products both morning and evening. That may seem a bit too much for you but when you see the result, it's worth trying! Korean women take good care of themselves and of their skin, and they're right to do so.

Here's the different steps of Korean skincare routine :

For the morning :

1. Wash skin with water

First thing to do in the morning, is washing your skin with water and not with cleanser. Water removes impurities from the night, and keep the skin hydrated as well.

2. Toner

To balance skin pH levels, it's important to apply a toner. Without it, the skin becomes dry and deshydrated. Further, the toner helps the following products to absorb in the skin well.
Toner is of a thin texture, almost like water. It's the second step you use after washing your skin with water.

3. Essence

in Korean skincare products, essence is a hybrid between toner and serum. Thicker texture than toner, essence helps moisturize skin even more, and gives a youthful appearance on the skin. To use after the toner.

4. Ampoule

Similar to serum, ampoules have higher expectations when it comes to skin concerns. With more ingredients, ampoules is needed when the skin is not well, and quickly needs to be moisturized.

5. Serum

With active ingredients, serum is used to fix the following skin problems :  wrinkles, dark spots, and deshydratation.

6. Eye cream

The eye skin being very thin, there is no sebum glands to create natural oils. It's then important to apply eye cream on the eyelids and the socket bone under the eyes.

7. Emulsion

Thicker texture than essence, emulsion is closer to moisturizer than to toner. To use after essence and before moisturizer.

8. Moisturizer

After all these steps, apply a soothing moisturizer on your face to keep the skin hydrated for the daytime.

9. Sunscreen

Koreans don't only use sunscreen in summer, they use it all the year because UV rays can trigger a fast skin aging, early wrinkles and dark spots. This is why Korean women look younger, because they protect themselves from the sun rays!

For the evening / night time :

1. Oil-based cleanser

To apply in the evening or night, to remove makeup and other impurities from the daytime.

2.  Water-based cleanser

To remove the oil residue from the oil-based cleanser and remove water-based impurities.

3. Exfoliator

Twice a week, use an exfoliating skin mask, to remove dead cells from the skin and prevent pores.

4. Toner

Same as the morning routine this time, apply your toner.

5. Essence

6. Ampoule

7. Serum

8. Sheet Skin Mask

The sheet masks are Korean skincare routine's favorite. A sheet mask with skin-loving ingredients, perfect for all skin types.

9. Eye cream

10. Moisturizer

So that was the Korean skincare routine steps. I know it seems a lot, but when you see the result it's amazing!

Now, if you decide to use korean skincare routine, I let you know where the korean skincare products are available :   There is an online shopping website, called Yesstyle, that sells lot of korean skincare and korean beauty products. I ordered most of my korean skincare products there (an exfoliating mask made of rice grains, a sheet mask with banana scent, an essence made of snail's oil, a toner made of aloe vera and an exfoliating scrub made of strawberry and black sugar....)

Yesstyle also sells other stuffs such as earrings, beauty tools (such as facial hair remover, which is NOT a tweezer nor a razor), clothes (be careful with asian sizes, some clothes may be smaller, you have to size up), hair-care products, lifestyle products such as sink strainer, clothes hangers, passport cases, wallets, bags, travel bags, chopsticks, small plastic desks where you can organize all your stuffs......   Lot of things you can find there!  I personally love that website.

Here is the end of the post, I hope you've read it all, and if you decide to start korean skincare routine (whatever if you're a woman or man, in Korea, even men take good care of their skin),  I recommand you to buy the korean skincare products on Yesstyle!

  1. For most of that stuff, I know so little about skincare that I just don't know anything about it. But about that last part - I *have* heard from dermatologists that wearing sunscreen when outside (any time during the day, even when it's not in the summer) is the most important thing you can do to keep your skin looking young and healthy.
