香港 = Hong Kong (pronounced as Xiang-Gang in chinese)
Population: 7 466 441 (2019)
Currency: Hongkong Dollar
Statut : Rich developed place, belongs to country of China but with more freedom and democracy than China. Also part of "4 asian dragons" (4 most developped asian countries).
Politics: Democracy. Unlike china, Hong kong is not communist and has a little of freedom of speech.
Languages spoken in Hong Kong : Cantonese Chinese and English
Languages: Mainland china speaks Mandarin chinese which has 4 tones, whereas Hong Kong speaks Cantonese chinese, which has 9 tones. (a tone is the vocal tone of how you pronounce a word, either from low to high pitch or from high to low pitch. If two words have same pronounciation and same spelling but different tone, the two words can mean opposite things. That's why it is important to learn those tones. ) Cantonese Chinese is harder than Mandarin chinese because they have 9 tones while mandarin chinese only has 4 tones. The writting is also different: Hong Kong still use traditional characters, whereas Mainland china use simplified characters.
Hong Kong people also speak very good English, because of their past being colonized by the UK.
History/ Current Situation: Hong Kong was once part of UK, then got taken back by mainland China. But Hong kong is not like the rest of china, Hong Kong is more freedom/democracy based, and not communist. But china wants to place dictatorship onto Hong Kong, which hongkongese people DONT WANT, because they want to keep their democracy, so they protest against mainland china who want to take over them.
Landscapes and Architecture: Hong Kong is a very modernized developed rich place, There is lot of high buildings, lights during the night, City etc, which is very beautiful to look at (Look at the photo I provided on the start of this post). Hongkong also contains a port, with many boats, and bright lightful high buildings, which is very outstanding, I wish I could visit there. It doesn't look poor at all, HK is actually a developed place, part of the 4 most developed asian countries (South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore and Hong Kong) which are called the "4 asian dragons".
Food: Fish balls and also rice noodles rolls dipped in soysauce, with beef and vegetables inside the roll. These noodle rolls are called "Cheong Faan"
Religions/Folklore: Hong Kong believes in ghosts and reincarnation a lot, for example there is two horror movies from Hong Kong that I love, which are The Eye and The Eye 2 (with the talented actress Shu Qi), which is about ghosts and reincarnation (rebirth).
Religions of Hong Kong are : Confucianism, Taoism, Buddhism.
