Politics: Parlementary Constitutional Monarchy

Statut: Almost developed country, part of the "5 asian tigers" (Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines). Not as developed and rich as the 4 asian dragons (South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong) but their economics and development is increasing nowadays.

 

Currency : Baht

Capital city:  Bangkok

Name of the country: Thailand, used to be called "Siam" before

 

Language: Thai

 

Language: Thai is a language that contains 5 tons. Grammar-wise, Thai is an isolant language, which means the grammar is very simple, there is no plurals, no genders, no conjugations. The verbs stays the same, they don't change. To indicate past, present and future tense, they just use small words that stick to the verb to change its tense. 

 

Writting: As opposite to Chinese writting, Thai doesn't use symbols, but they have their own alphabet. Thai alpahbet contains 20 consonnants, 24 vowels, Thai is written from left to right, there is no ponctuation, no capitalized letters, and no space.

 

Looks-wise, Thai looks more like Hindi writting than Chinese or Japanese writting.

 

Religions: 94,6% of thai population is Buddhist

 

Food: Thai food has lot of flavors, such as Coconut milk, Curry, Coriander, Mint, etc...  The main meals in Thailand are:  Pad Thai, which is rice noodles with a spicy fish sauce. Most popular dessert in thailand is the sweet sticky rice dipped in coconut milk with some fresh mango slices. Very delicious!

 

Music: Thai music, called "Thai-pop" is not as popular as K-pop (Korean music) but thai pop is very popular in Thailand. Whereas Kpop is a little "manufactured" and has very catchy songs that almost sound like american songs, Thai-pop is more "traditional" and reflects the country's culture.

 

TV series:  Unlike japanese, korean and chinese tv series which are called "dramas", Thai series are called "Lakhon".  Japanese and Korean dramas can be many types: Comedy, romantic, sad story, or funny one, etc...  But Lakhon are almost all tragic, and sad ending. 

 

Movies:  Thai people are very good at making horror movies, The most popular horror movies from Thailand are:  Shutter, Alone, Coming Soon etc...
