Words (pronounciation + writtings) in Japanese, Korean and Chinese

 

 

 

 

 

Here's another post about asian languages. This time I will give you some words and phrases in Japanese, Korean and Chinese, with the pronounciation AND the writting.


Let's start with Japanese:


Japan : 日本 (nihon) prononced "neehonn"

 

China: 中国 (chuugoku)  prononced "choo-gokoo" 

 

Book : 本 (hon)

 

Cat: 猫 (neko)

Airport 飛行場 (hikôjô) prononced heeko djo

 

Customs:   税関 (zeikan) 

Hotel :  ホテル (hoteru) prononced "ho-teh-loo"

 (the letter R in japanese is close to L in prononciation. The "u" is not 100% pronounced as "oo" (like in book ) but a mix between "oo" and "u"

 

I'm here for two weeks: 私は 二週間ここに います

 (watashi wa ni shûkan koko ni imasu) imasu is prononced imass'

 

I am studying Japanese:  私は日本語が 勉強します   (watashi wa nihongo ga benkyou shimasu) shimasu is pronounced as she-mass'

 

Thanks :  ありがとう  (arigatô) prononced as ah-lee-gah-to

Man: 男 (otoko)  / Woman: 女 (onna) 

Boy: 男 の 子 (otoko no ko) / Girl: 女 の 子 (onna no ko) 

 

What's your name ?  : あなた の 名前は 何です か  (anata no namae wa nan desu ka?) prononced "anata no nah-mah-eh wa nan dess' ka ?)

 

My name is.. :  私の 名前は 。。。 です (watashi no namae wa ... desu) desu is pronounced dess' 

 

How much does it cost ?  これ はいくら です か  (kore wa ikura desu ka?) 

 

Now words in Korean:

 

Korea:  한국  (hanguk) prononced as "han-gook"

Hello:  안녕하세요  (annyeong-ha-seyo)

 

I love you: 사랑해요  (sarang hae yo) Sarang is pronounced as salang (Korean R sounds almost like L , like in Japanese)

 

I love Korea :  나는한국을조아합니다  (na neun hanguk eul joa hamnida )


 

Thanks:  감사합니다  (kamsahamnida)

 

How much does it cost ? : 얼마예요 ? (eol ma ye yo?) 

 

What's your name?  :  이름이 뭐예요? (ireumi mweo yeyo ? ) 

 

Please:   제발 (jebal) 

 

Tree :   나무 (namu) prononced namoo


And then let's finish this post with Chinese: 


I love you:  我爱你 (wo ai ni)

 

Hello:   你好 (ni hao)

 

Do you speak English ? :  你说英語吗 (ni shuo yingyu ma?) pronounced as "nee shoo-oh ying-yu ma ?"

 

My name is ...   :  我叫 ...  (Wo jiao...)

 

Thanks:  谢谢 (xiexie) prononced as "she-eh she-eh " 

 

To drive a car:   开车 (kai-che)

 

Car:  车 (che)


Book:  书  (shu) prononced as shoo


Japan:    日本 (Riben)pronounced as Ju-Bun (NB: in Japanese, the character for "japan" is same as in chinese but in chinese it is Riben (juu-bun) and in Japanese it is Nihon (pronounced nee-hon)


中国  (zhong-guo) = China pronounced as djong-goo-oh   but in Japanese it is Chuugoku


雨 (yu) : rain  (in japanese it is ame and in chinese it is yu)


下雨了 (xia-yu-le) :it's raining (pronounced as she-ah yu le )  [ in Japanese it is: ame ga futte kimashita (prononced ah-meh ga foo-teh kee-mash'ta ]  and is written like:  雨が 降って きました  whereas in chinese it is:  下雨了
